Parallel Globe

Terms of Service

Parallel Globe Ltd

By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to these Terms of Service (‘Terms’), our Community Rules, and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. Eligibility and Account Security

You must be at least 18 years old to use Parallel Globe. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • All activity that occurs under your account.
  • Keeping your account information accurate and up to date.

Third-party sign-in: If you sign in using X, you authorise Parallel Globe to receive information from that provider as described in our Privacy Policy. You remain responsible for maintaining the security of your third-party account and your Parallel Globe account.

2. Country Spaces and Visitor Status

Parallel Globe operates country-specific spaces (‘Country Spaces’). Your account has a ‘Home Country Space’ based on your original registration and, where applicable, verification.

You may browse other Country Spaces by switching your viewing country (‘Visitor Mode’). Switching your viewing country does not change your Home Country Space.

Visibility: When you appear in a Country Space outside your Home Country Space, other users will see you labelled as a ‘Visitor from [Home Country Space]’. If you are a Verified User, your verified role (for example, Politician, Journalist, or Organisation) will also be displayed to provide context.

Participation limits: Visitors may view and comment in other Country Spaces. Visitors are not permitted to create posts, upload photos or other media, or publish Moments outside their Home Country Space. These limits are implemented as a technical restriction. To publish content in another Country Space, users must register a separate account associated with that country.

Repost and quote: When a user reposts or quotes a post from another Country Space, the repost or quote will appear in the user’s Home Country Space feed and their followers’ feeds; it will not be published into the originating Country Space. The original post remains attributed to its author and their Country Space.

We may adjust Country Space rules and eligibility criteria to protect civic integrity, prevent manipulation, and to comply with local legal requirements.

Verified Organisations — with the exception of Political Parties — publish content globally across all Country Spaces represented on the platform. Their content is visible in every country where Parallel Globe operates. Political Parties are restricted to publishing within their registered Home Country Space only.

3. User Content

You are responsible for the content you post, upload, or share. Parallel Globe does not endorse user content and does not guarantee its accuracy. By posting on the platform, you grant Parallel Globe a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display your content solely for the purpose of operating, securing, and improving the Services. You retain ownership of your content.

4. Prohibited Content

You agree not to use the Services to:

  • Post or share content that is illegal, defamatory, or intentionally misleading.
  • Harass, threaten, or incite violence against any person or group.
  • Post hate speech, sexually explicit content, or content that exploits or harms others.
  • Violate privacy rights or share personal data without consent.
  • Infringe intellectual property rights.
  • Spam, scam, or conduct unauthorised advertising.
  • Use bots or automated tools to disrupt or manipulate the platform.
  • Attempt to bypass security, moderation controls, or verification systems.

5. Moderation and Enforcement

We use a combination of user reports, human review, and automated screening — including tools such as Detoxify for text, XLM-RoBERTa for multilingual analysis, and NudeNet ML models for images — to enforce our Community Rules. Automated screening assists moderation but does not produce legally binding decisions without human review where required.

Enforcement follows a four-strike approach:

  • Strike 1: warning.
  • Strike 2: warning.
  • Strike 3: warning.
  • Strike 4 (final): the user is banned from commenting on the Verified User's posts. This restriction is applied by the account owner through the platform's Search & Act panel and may be lifted by the account owner at any time.

Parallel Globe may suspend or terminate accounts at any time where a serious violation of these Terms or Community Rules is confirmed through our reporting and review process, without following the strike process above. Only Parallel Globe may suspend or terminate an account; account owners cannot suspend other users.

For severe violations, we may take immediate action — including content removal or account suspension — without following each step above.

Notices and appeals: Where appropriate, users may appeal enforcement actions through the platform or by contacting us at support@parallelglobe.io. We will review appeals in accordance with our review procedures and communicate the outcome where appropriate.

6. Verification

Certain features require verification — for example, Political Voice status, hosting PoliticTalk rooms, or operating an official organisation profile. If you apply for verification:

  • You must provide accurate information and authentic documents.
  • We may request additional information to complete the review.
  • To maintain Verified status, we may request updated documents 12 months after verification and periodically thereafter.
  • We may deny, revoke, or downgrade verification if we cannot confirm your identity or mandate, or if we detect misuse, impersonation, or violations of these Terms.

Guest Participants in PoliticTalk

Verified hosts may invite external guests to participate as speakers in a PoliticTalk session via an invitation link. Guest participants are not required to create a Parallel Globe account. Parallel Globe does not collect profile or verification information from guest participants. We process only the limited technical data necessary to provide and secure the PoliticTalk session, in accordance with our Privacy Policy. The host is responsible for ensuring that any guest invitation complies with applicable law, including any consent or notification requirements that may apply in the guest’s jurisdiction.

7. Account Deletion and Termination

You may delete your account at any time via the account settings in the app. Upon deletion, your account and associated content will be removed from public view in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data retention periods.

We may also suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms, our Community Rules, or applicable law, including repeated abuse, fraud, or security risks. Where required, we will provide notice and an opportunity to appeal before action is taken.

Effect of termination: Once an account is deleted or terminated, access to the Services ends. Your content will become unavailable, and personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, including limited backup retention and applicable legal obligations.

8. Data Export and Portability

You have the right to receive a copy of the personal data you have provided to Parallel Globe in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format. To submit a data export request, contact us at support@parallelglobe.io with the subject line ‘Data Export Request’.

We will process your request in accordance with applicable data protection law, including UK GDPR and EU GDPR, and will respond within 30 days. We may request verification of your identity before releasing any data.

9. Automated Processing and Profiling

Parallel Globe uses automated tools to screen content for potential policy violations (see Section 5 above and our Privacy Policy). These tools assist human moderators but do not make final decisions on account suspension or termination without human review where such decisions produce significant effects.

Parallel Globe does not use personal data to build political profiling for advertising purposes, and does not engage in solely automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on users, without appropriate human oversight.

If you believe an automated process has produced an incorrect outcome, you may request human review by contacting support@parallelglobe.io.

10. Special Category Data and Political Content

Because Parallel Globe is designed for civic and political discourse, you may voluntarily share political opinions, affiliations, or related sensitive information. By doing so, you provide explicit consent for Parallel Globe to process this data as necessary to operate the Services, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

You may withdraw consent for the processing of special category data at any time by updating your privacy settings or contacting us at support@parallelglobe.io. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred prior to withdrawal.

11. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, Parallel Globe will notify the relevant supervisory authority without undue delay and, where feasible, within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, in accordance with GDPR Article 33.

Where a breach is likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will also notify affected users directly without undue delay, in accordance with GDPR Article 34, unless an exemption applies.

We maintain internal procedures for detecting, reporting, and investigating data breaches. If you become aware of or suspect a data breach, please contact us immediately at support@parallelglobe.io.

12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Services are provided ‘as is’ and ‘as available’. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Parallel Globe disclaims all warranties and is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Services. This section does not limit mandatory consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Changes to the Services or Terms

We may update the Services or these Terms from time to time. We may notify users of material changes where appropriate. Continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Icelandic law. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Services will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Iceland, unless mandatory consumer protection law applicable in your country of residence provides otherwise.
